Flat Out Afloat


Flat Out Afloat involves teams engineering, constructing and racing a boat from cardboard! Teams have to use some unlikely building materials and combine their individual talents to build a seaworthy vessel.

Using the detailed engineering plans provided, successful teams divide up roles and responsibilities across the project team. The impressive finale has the boats racing each other each with two paddlers aboard.

Flat Out Afloat is a fun and rewarding experience that can be adapted as required to focus on issues such as cross-functional team-working, role behaviour, leadership and project management. With so many facets and tasks built into the challenge, every team member has a vital role to play in achieving the task and making sure the team ultimately stays afloat.
